Here's your bloody smile.

A collection of smiles for the times you just couldn't be arsed.

As a young woman I often experience the creepy, crushing cries of strange men saying

"hey, why don't you smile it won't crack your face" or "go on love give us a smile".

As a child of the hardcore stranger danger era and a genuine lover of not being told what to do by people I've never met before in my life, I reflect upon these times in my work.

The starting point for this work was a  photograph of myself as a kid

with the best frown you've ever seen. I'm so damn proud of that frown, part concentration part "really another photo?"  This frowny girl of the past inspired me to create these works as an act of rebellion against the need to always smile and be pleasant for the gaze and pleasure of another. These works are stand in smiles to be worn or brandished in times of need when you really just can't be f***ed cracking in a smile.

Pop a smile on your middle finger.

Roll up your sleeves and slip on a power pack cuffed toward of bad vibes.

Don a huge green nut chunk of  chunk chain full of "my smile my choice" attitude.

Wear a smile but only if you want to you.
